Fieles a la tradición, de nuevo he tenido el gran honor de pintar para mi hermano aquello que el detestaba pintar más (ocurrió en el anterior reto con la Arachnarok goblin). Esta vez ha tocado echarle mano a los Demigryph Knights de su ejército imperial o Freeguild para nuestro último reto de pintura. Aunque tarde, !aquí están! La última pieza que faltaba en su ejército de 1500 puntos con la que termina el reto, si bien hemos estado comentando de ampliarlo entre los dos para llegar a los 2000 mediante una una horda de espadachines y algunos Demigryph Knightsmás.
Para las monturas decidimos darles una nota de color pintando cada una de una forma un poco diferente, pero siguiendo una paleta de colores similar a la de las peanas (dado que son animales depredadores, tiene sentido que la selección natural haya favorecido colores similares al entorno para camuflarse durante sus partidas de caza). Estos colores fueron: Incubi Darkness (base), Sybarute Green (layer) y Nihilakh oxide (technical). En un intento de acelerar el proceso de pintura decidí usar pinturas Contrast para sacar las sombras en la piel de las monturas. Horrible. El resultado fue super sucio y poco definido. Al final me ha tocado invertir una cantidad de horas descomunal para reparar el horrible efecto de las Contrast. Sin duda, soy incapaz de sacarles el debido partido a estas pinturas, ya que hay muchos que hacen auténticas maravillas con ellas. Tendré que hacer un poco de investigación y seguir probando. Por el momento, mi conclusión, siguiendo la de Miguel, es que tan solo hay un par de pinturas Contrast que merecen la pena, y éstas son el negro y un marrón. La única montura que se salvó un poco fue la albina, y eso porque no use una pintura Contrast, si no una Technical (Nihilakh oxide) que diluí 1:1 con el medium de las pinturas Contrast para suavizar el efecto.
Por otro lado, para darles algo de contraste pinté las protecciones de las monturas de color granate, mientras que los colores de la marca imperial del ejército de mi hermano, negro y amarillo, decoran blasones, escudos y el estandarte. Para las partes metálicas utilicé las pinturas metálicas de Scale, que me sorprendieron bastante (esta es la primera vez que las utilicé). Cubren muy bien, si bien tienen un resultado un pelín apagado comparadas con las de Citadel, por ejemplo. Utilice Heavy Metal para las partes aceradas y Dwarven Gold para las doradas. Tras pintar cada parte con el correspondiente color, saqué de forma rápida las sombras con un lavado de Nuln oil en las partes de acero y Agrax en las doradas. Y tras recuperar el color metálico original con la correspondiente pintura, saque las luces a cada una con: Speed Metal y Citrine Alchemy (acero y oro, respectivamente).
