Dropzone Commander – Magnetizing PHR Triton

Hi guys! Rubén and I are starting with Dropzone Commander. While waiting for the new faction starter sets, I’m going to start magnetizing the Tritons.

Our friends from Goblintrader gave us two rulebooks last week. We liked the game so much that we decided to start playing and buy a couple of starter sets from the new plastic range: PHR and The Resistance.

Starting with the two Triton ships, I’m going to magnetize all of the aerial units: the bases, the extra weapons, the couplings to transport vehicles, etc.

The first step was glueing the Hawk Widgets to the bases. I know that these pieces are usually glued to the bottom of the ships, but in this case they were used to place 2mm magnets inside them. Great!

I put one 2mm magnet in each side of the transparent rods:

With these first steps, the stand is ready. As you can see, the little Hawk Widgets at the bottom will do a great work bearing the weight of the ship. This will be impossible with the magnets only.

The Triton ships have the option to upgrade them with Twin RX-20 Miniguns. With those miniguns, the Tritons gain some gun-power, as their main role is serving as light transports. As I’m not sure if the miniguns are great for every list, I decided to magnetize them to allow me to use them or not.

I cut a little slice slice of resin (2mm more or less) in each gun support, the part that inserts in the ships wings:

I simply glued 2mm magnets in the holes:

I drilled two holes in each dropship, with a manual drill and a 2mm drill bit (perfect for the magnets). I glued the magnets inside:

Finally, I glued 2mm magnets in the hole below the ship, the place for the flight stand. In fact, this hole is designed to place the Hawk Widgets I used for the base of the stands:

And the Triton Dropships are now ready for priming. Some pics of all the pieces together:

Nos ha gustado un montón, sí. Veremos ahora que pasa con él ahora que ha salido lo de Firestorm Armada… que también pinta flipante.

Tiene buena pinta tb. De todos modos uno no excluye al otro 🙂 Yo creo que también le daremos al de spartan.
