Eleven Tree Designs Tudor House 15mm – Painting

It’s time to finish painting one of the Tudor Houses in 15mm from Eleven Tree Designs.

On June we built a great 15mm medieval house from Eleven Tree Designs. See the post HERE. It’s a laser cut model full of textures and impressive details for a laser cut building in such a small scale (it has more texture than the 4ground ones).

With the building done and the homemade wood texture for the floors ready, it’s time to paint the house to a standard tabletop level. We start priming in grey the 3 blocks of the house. I do it with airbrush and AK Grey Primer.

The interior parts receive a black primer coat.

With the priming part done, we can look at those really great textures from the laser engraver.

We continue with the airbrush, this time painting all the exterior walls in white (Tamiya and Vallejo for the retouches with brush).

With some tape we mask all the zones we want to stay in white, so we can paint the stone areas in Dark Grey from Vallejo.

With the masks still placed, we drybrush the stones with Vallejo Sky Grey.

When the mask is removed we can see a nice contrast between the two areas.

For the roof, we mask the rest of the house, paint it with Vallejo Red and wash it with AK Dark Brown.

When the wash becomes dull it’s time to remove the excess to show the real red color of the tiles, except in the recesses, where the wash makes a great contrast. I usually use a cotton bud or a makeup brush for this task.

The difference between applying a wash or not. On the left, the wash applied and cleaned up. On the right, the base coat without washes.

Now, with an old brush, we apply a really diluted filter with Tamiya Buff, emphasizing on the areas close to the wood crossbars.

The next step is the most time spending step of all the painting process. We need to paint with a dark brown color all the wood pieces of the exterior walls. Patience, please…

Finally, we can paint the bars of the windows and the door with a lighter brown and drybrush all the wood pieces to make them gain some contrast. Here are the pics of the finished house.

As you can see it next to the 15mm mini, the scale is perfect and it greatly represents a medieval house for your games.

We have another two different houses from Eleven Tree Designs, so we need some free time to start with them. Reviewing the results of this painted one, we are willing to paint them! 🙂
